Mountains and Seas Legends Tarot
A Chinese mythic world, read through tarot.
Mountains and Seas Legends Tarot brings the Shan Hai Jing into a complete 78-card deck — with a familiar tarot foundation and stories that invite a closer look.
What is Mountains and Seas Legends Tarot?
It is a physical Chinese mythology tarot deck by Laba Wisdom, inspired by the Shan Hai Jing, also known in English as the Classic of Mountains and Seas. Its 78 cards connect recognizable tarot archetypes with mythic characters, extraordinary beings, and sacred landscapes.
Familiar meanings, distinct mythic lives
The deck remains compatible with the Rider–Waite–Smith (RWS) structure. The tarot meaning provides a starting point; Chinese mythology adds another way to see and reflect on it. In this deck, Lu Wu becomes The Magician, and Manman becomes The Lovers. These correspondences are Laba Wisdom’s artistic interpretations.
Made for beginners and returning readers
The complete structure and companion guidebook give new readers a way in. The guidebook connects meanings, myth background, image symbolism, and reading prompts. Readers who already know RWS can explore a different visual and narrative world without starting from an entirely separate system.
