Mountains and Seas Legends Tarot
A beautiful first tarot deck.
Chinese mythic art, a familiar reading system, and a companion guidebook. Begin with one card and find your own pace.

Why it is beginner-friendly
A familiar system. The deck is compatible with the Rider–Waite–Smith (RWS) tradition. You can use widely available RWS learning resources alongside the deck, without first learning an entirely separate reading system.
Guidance beyond the picture. The companion guidebook brings together card meanings, upright and reversed interpretations, myth background, image symbolism, prompts, and practical reading guidance. Guidebook format depends on the edition; see the campaign for what is included.
Stories to return to. You can begin with a card meaning, then gradually discover the Chinese gods, creatures, and landscapes behind it. You do not need to memorize the whole mythic world before your first reading.
Your first one-card reading
- Choose a gentle question: “What deserves my attention today?”
- Draw one card. Notice one detail in the image before looking up its meaning.
- Read the guidebook entry and connect one idea to your question.
- Write a short reflection and one small action you can take. Return to your notes later.
A first reading does not have to be complicated. Treat the image and guidebook as prompts for reflection, and let familiarity grow through practice.
See a short example in Lu Wu · The Magician or Manman · The Lovers. These are introductions to selected cards; the companion guidebook carries the fuller reading material.
